    I. Description
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This firmware contains the basic operating system software and 
administrative user interface for Quad Micro Works's Square One Personal 
Internet Server. Quad Micro Works from time to time releases new versions of
the Square One firmware in order to add new features or address reported 
issues. New firmwares can be downloaded the Download section of the QMW web 
site at http://www.quadmicroworks.com/downloads/.

The firmware is provided in two variants, which are distinguised by 
filename. (Both variants are provided in this package.) The file whose name 
ends with '.bin' will RESET all user settings to factory defaults when 
installed. The file whose name ends with '.user.bin' will preserve user 
settings. If you wish to upgrade your firmware without affecting your 
settings, you must use the file whose name ends with '.user.bin'.

(Note: If your computer is configured to hide filename extensions, as is 
the default in Windows XP, the filename of the setting-preserving variant 
of the firmware will appear to end with '.user'. The filename of the 
non-setting-preserving firmware will appear to have no extension.)

   II. Installation Procedure

To install this firmware:

  1. Extract the contents of this ZIP archive to a folder on your computer.
  2. Decide which variant of the firmware you wish to use. (See the 
     Description section above for a discussion of the two variants.)
  3. In your browser, go to the Square One admin interface (the default URL
     is http://192.168.1.1:8090).
  4. Click Administration, and then click Firmware Update.
  5. Select "Install from desktop", click Browse, select the desired
     firmware file, and double-click it.
  6. Click Apply.

Square One will upload the firmware file, install the firmware, and then 
restart automatically. Please be patient, as the installation and 
restarting process may take up to three minutes, during which no indication 
of progress will appear in the browser. Please do not move away from the 
Firmware Update page for at least sixty seconds. Then, you can check 
whether the process is complete by clicking the Home icon and seeing 
whether the welcome page opens. When the welcome page can be opened, the 
process is complete.
