How do I use Square One with an existing router?

Square One was designed to be used by most people as their only router, to be directly connected to the broadband modem. If you already have a router and you just want to use Square One as a network storage device and/or web server (not as a router), you can do so by connecting Square One's WAN port to a LAN port on the other router. Square One will receive an IP address from the other router, and you can then access Square One at that IP address from the computers that are connected to the other router.

In this configuration, Square One will not be accessible from the Internet unless you set up port forwarding (sometimes called port mapping) on the Internet-connected router to route incoming traffic on the appropriate port(s) to Square One. More information on forwarding ports to Square One can be found by searching this FAQ.
